Where God quenches thirst!
First Time Visit to Worship
First time visits are always anxious moments. Let us help you relieve some anxiety.
Dress as you wish. If you are comfortable, we are comfortable. What you are wearing on the outside is not as important as what is happening on the inside. Jack, our pastor, wears jeans and a golf shirt. No one wears robes. A few folks wear ties.
Coffee, donuts, and juice for kids will be available when you arrive. Feel free to carry food and drink to your seat with you. Tables are available to sit.
A nursery is provided. The nursery is located at the rear of the building. The nursery can be accessed from the covered drive. A beeper will be given to you when you register your infant child. If for some reason you are needed during the worship service, the workers will beep you.
After the children's sermon, the children ages K - Grade 4 are invited to go accompany two adults for a children's church. During this time, the children will learn a Bible verse and do an age appropriate task relating to the verse. The emphasis is to teach the children the Bible story or the order of the Bible. The children return to the worship area during the closing song.
You will not be asked to introduce yourself in front of everyone. Nor will you be "tagged" as a visitor. We just want you to relax and enjoy being our guest. Expect great music--music that is heard on most contemporary Christian radio stations. Enjoy the music as you wish. During the service, communion is available which is open to all persons. You may go to the communion table, break a piece of bread, and dip it into the cup. Each Sunday prior to worship, the band and worship team celebrates communion together.
Journals are passed throughout the congregation during the service. You may just want to read the writings that worshipers at The Well have written. Or, you may want to write some reflective thoughts that will be there for others to read. It is just another way to celebrate God's presence among us.
You will see kneelers for prayer in the congregation seating area. You are invited to pray when God leads you. Anytime during the service, spend time in prayer as God leads you.
Everyone is asked to register their attendance. The registration envelope asks you for contact information and serves as an offering envelope. At The Well, there is no "room service" for registration and offering. You are asked to bring your registration and offering before the Lord.
During the worship service, media clips and videos will be shown. These follow the theme of the service. Many times the congregation is asked to stand and read the Scripture for the day together in unison.
There is an information table in the narthex. There you will find information about United Methodism, Dr. O'Dell's cards, mission information, and Children's worship packets. There is a "welcome bag" for first time guests on the table in the entrance area. Please take one as you leave. It is our way of saying "We are glad you have worshipped with us!"
Any other questions? Ask someone! Or, email Dr. O'Dell at email@example.com. We are looking forward to meeting you!
