If You Don't Know Matt
I love meditating on scripture, listening to the heart of God, and inspiring people to do the work of God—Love. “There is no Law against such things,” as Paul says in Galatians. I also love thinking about new ways to tell an old story. What is the relationship between God’s narrative, beautiful art, and innovative technology?
I believe that through Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, God reconciled ALL things—even me and you and those who aren’t anything like me or you. Politically, I am a registered Independent because my allegiance is to Christ. I love to proclaim the Gospel because the story is too beautiful to keep to myself. I have found my spiritual gifts to be preaching, teaching, leading worship, and leading people to find and use their gifts.
I grew up in The United Methodist Church at First UMC in Slidell, LA. I am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, and I currently serve as the Vocational Discernment Chair for the Louisiana Conference. I have a BA in Music from LSU and a MDiv from Duke Divinity School. My wife, Christie, and I have three beautiful daughters: Isabelle, Annaleigh, and Cecilia.
When taking a Sabbath, I enjoy reading (usually either theology or physics—I love the intersection between faith and science), hanging out with my family, planning our next trip to Walt Disney World, watching Doctor Who or Lord of the Rings or LSU Football or the Saints or the St. Louis Cardinals. I’m always listening to music.
I maintain a weekly blog: www.thepostmodernpastor.com. My Twitter handle is mrawle2000.
